Every year, boys and girls, with their parent's help, build cars of every description. The construction of the car is intended to be a parent and child project with the child doing the majority of the work. The parent should supply the advice and limited assistance with the more difficult tasks. Please remember that the Awana Grand Prix is supposed to be fun for all. Get started early. Take your time building and testing your car. Plan to spend at least 4 to 6 hours building the car over several days.

Design Hints, Tips and Tricks

Many Awana Grand Prix car design principles are similar to the Cub Scout's Pinewood Derby. Below are links to sites reviewing weight placement theory, wheel placement and overall design methods. Remember - the purpose of the Awana Grand Prix is to HAVE FUN! Too much focus on winning will suck the fun right out of the event.
